Powers of Reasoning

Helping an independent media agency turn recognition into new business.

Our workStrategy, positioning, identity, website, awards and new business.

In July 2026, Powers of Reasoning won Gold in Media Agency of the Year at the Ad Age Small Agency Awards. Within two months of debuting its new brand and positioning, the agency won a $100 million media account with more pitches in progress.

We’d joined in December, working alongside Kate O’Brien and the team as embedded marketing leadership. Powers had experienced people and good work to its name. We wanted more of the right people to know about it, and to give the team what it needed when those people wanted to talk.

Getting the work recognized

One of our first jobs was to make a clear case for the work Powers was already doing. We wrote and managed award submissions, working through the results and the decisions behind them. There was plenty to say. It needed to be understandable to someone who hadn’t been on the account.

Entries we wrote won Media Campaign of the Year at the Digiday Media Buying & Planning Awards, along with Gold in Media and Silver in CPG & Food/Beverage at The Drum Awards for Marketing Americas. The Ad Age agency win followed in July.

We also worked with the leadership team on press preparation and communications. The awards gave Powers something new to bring into conversations with prospective clients, alongside the work that had earned them.

Giving people a reason to call

Alongside the awards work, we developed the positioning and messaging, then rewrote the website. Our goal was to help a prospect understand why Powers might be right for their business before reaching out.

The agency put senior people on accounts and offered large-scale buying without a media markup. We worked on explaining that clearly, with evidence behind it. Guilherme developed the visual identity and carried it through the website, credentials and everyday materials, giving the team a brand it could use wherever the next conversation happened.

Working on the pitches

New conversations became live pitches, and we stayed involved. We worked with the team on the story for each opportunity and built the presentations around what that particular business needed to hear.

There was practical work underneath it, too: prospect research, outreach, and an RFP library. The team could start with what it already knew and spend more time on the questions that made each opportunity different.

Working this closely also meant the brand kept improving. We could see where a presentation needed more flexibility because we were working on the presentation. Those lessons went back into the templates and guidelines.

Winning new business

We helped the team put its case together for the winning pitch, carrying the new positioning into a presentation built around the client’s business.

We’re still working alongside the team on its marketing and new pitches, refining the brand as the business grows.
